William Fawkes

Inspired by mid-twentieth century monochrome photography and found objects, William Fawkes seeks to create bold images which hold a strong sense of ambiguous narrative and intrigue, ranging in theme from the socially historic to the surreal. Working predominantly in oil paint and pen & ink, but also dabbles in various print-making techniques, he produces original and unique drawings and paintings.

William’s studio is based in Gateshead, within a beautiful grade II listed church. Here he shares the building with some other great local creatives covering a wide selection of artistic disciplines. It’s also part of the Ouseburn art community, which means there are regular open studio events.
