Description
Folk Tales of North East England by Philip Atkinson
Thirty-six compelling and entertaining short stories based on North East folklore.
186 pages, paperback, published 2017.
From the author:
My mother gave me a ten shilling note when I was nine and told me to get the first bus I saw and not to come home until I either ran out of money or it was getting dark. I ended up in Weardale where I heard the tale of The Lang Man o’ Bollihope, and ever since I have been intrigued by folklore.
These stories come from North East England and although they have been passed from generation to generation in the oral tradition, I have written them down just in case they get lost and forgotten. If you tell the bairns these tales, make sure you add a little intrigue and passion!
