Tyneside In The Second World War by Craig Armstrong

Published 2007, Hardback Edition

Tyneside’s experience of war during the period 1939 to 1945 was as unique as it was important. As a major industrial area, specialising in shipbuilding and armaments production, the importance of the region to the national war effort cannot be overstated.

The local photographs in this book (courtesy of the Imperial War Museum London and Beamish North of England Open Air Museum) are a fascinating record of  Tyneside in the war years.
